He is Bavarian!

The biggest news lately is that the new Pope is Bavarian. And from here on, you cannot imagine what happens. There are either supporters (as if Bayern Munich just won another match), proud of their German Pope or people who are very much against the traditional way he is to do things as a Pope.

So, one can see around both funny pictures depicting him as pure Bavarian with lederhosen and hat with feathers, holding a beer mug in a hand and a brezel in the other and also the formal nice pictures taken at his confirmation.

Happy people or disappointed people, etc.

People are proud that he’s German, but if one asks deeper questions, regarding his future actions and position regarding really HOT issues, nobody can say why Ratzinger is better than the others.

They say he did it all for the sake of politics and he was elected as an intermediate for the next best thing. That he is too old and will not change a thing because he is very conservator. That the Catholic Church just turned back a couple of hundred years into the Middle Ages and by having him as a Pope the young people will never be attracted to the Church. That a huge chance of change was wasted and that Catholics are all over the world, not only Europe.

On the other hand, the others like him precisely because he is that conservator and very much against the modern way of living.

What can I say? I am pretty neutral since the Catholic Church is far from me, but my true belief is that he is quite far from the ambassador role of Catholics (as I see a Pope to be).

Comments?

I would be happy to read them!

What is the name of the new Pope?
His name is "Paparazzi".
