Garbage separation and the greenhouse effect

The 2004/ 05 winter in Munich was one of the toughest in the past years. Yet, for me it was piece of cake - only a couple of days below minus 15 degrees? Cool! Not even under minus 20 degrees? Huh!But the spring happened to come on the extended week-end I was away visiting the northern part of Germany and Holland. So muy last pictures taken from the plane on a friday morning showd a Munich drowned in snow - white all over.
On Monday evening - not a trace of snow!Ever since it is quite warm and rainy.

And Nadeem, one of my work colleagues has a pretty funny theory on this: as Germany is so famous about its environmental awareness and rubbish separation that started some decades ago (metal, plastic, paper, biological stuff, etc.) the whole weather-stuff makes sense. Read on :)

As a matter of fact, quite serious fines exist for those for those who do not obbey these rules. One might actually laugh, but if you do not do it right and somebody notices this (neighbours, people who pick the rubbish) you may end up in serious trouble.

But, since people here are that environmentally aware, it is common sense to behave and do things right (when in Rome do like Romans, right?) and might seem a crime to throw any type of rubbish straight on the street where there are so many garbage cans around!

It seems that this also might be the cause for the long Bavarian snowy winters as well as for the late arrival of spring (although, my dear Munich inhabitants you should see a Transilvanian winter that lasts sometime from October until April!!!!).

So, as Nadeem used to joke about it: it works! No more seasons changing and messed up, no much pollution or over heating which leads to no more green house effect.
We have the rubbish sorted and picked up regularly, all nice and clean.

So I believe this example should be followed by as many citizens in the world. Not only because it is the right thing to do, but cleanliness is the strat for a healthy life.

Have YOU already started doing it?
